BlackBerry apparently pauses BBM for iOS & Android

Blackberry has paused the global roll out of IM service BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) on rival Android and iOS, blaming the delay on issues caused by an unreleased version.

Blackberry has not specified the time when the app will be available, said customers who have downloaded BBM for iphone will be able to use it.

Blackberry had earlier announced that it will provide its popular chat application BBM on Android operation system from September 21, 2013 and for iPhone users from September 22, 2013

Explaining the reasons behind the delay, BlackBerry on its official blog said: "Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already, more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app, is incredible.

"Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day."

It further said: "Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it's ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM.

"We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM."

The unreleased Android app will be disabled and customers who downloaded it should visit www.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability, BlackBerry said.

"As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone," the blog post said.

These issues have not impacted the BBM service for BlackBerry.

BBM has more than 60 million monthly active customers on BlackBerry alone, and majority use BBM an average of 90 minutes per day. BBM customers collectively send and receive more than 10 billion messages each day, nearly twice as many messages per user per day as compared to other mobile messaging apps.

New Apple iPhone 5S & 5C. Which one to buy?

Apple is launching two new iPhones, the Iphone 5C and the Iphone 5S, and the big question for many is going to be which is worth their hard-earned money. Both present attractive packages, but is there a strong reason to choose one over the other? Here’s a breakdown of the main considerations for those facing that choice.

CAMERA

The iPhone 5s improves the smartphone camera experience enough to make this a key point in its favor. While all flash photography that doesn’t involve expensive umbrellas, off-camera units and softboxes is inherently evil, the 5s True Tone flash really is loads better than the one in the 5c.

Flash aside, the 5s camera sensor and lens assembly is much better, and the processor means faster autofocus and faster shutter activation. Slo-mo video and burst mode are also big positives in favor of the iPhone 5s. If you’re really into mobile photography (or any kind of photography), the iPhone 5s is worth the premium.

VALUE AND COST

For the money, Apple’s iPhone 5c is a very capable device. It’s cheaper than the 5s at equivalent storage sizes, and it’s not missing too many tricks at the moment compared to the 5s, besides the camera features mentioned above, and the secret payload of the A7 and M7 processing components.

The iPhone 5c’s design is surprisingly appealing, and were the 5s available in both finishes, One would be hard-pressed to choose one over the other. Basically, if you’re currently happy with an iPhone 5, 4S or 4 but are looking for a change or have an upgrade coming, but aren’t overly concerned with being cutting edge, the 5c is the phone to get.

FUTURE-PROOFING

The 5s has a secret payload, as mentioned above, which is built-in to the A7 system-on-a-chip and M7 motion coprocessor. App developers will start designing software intended specifically to leverage the A7′s 64-bit processing power, and power-saving/motion tracking features made possible with the M7. If you want to make sure you have hardware that can take full advantage when these titles start to hit, you’ll need the iPhone 5s.

Ultimately the phone that’s right for you is the one that holds the most appeal to you personally. There’s nothing wrong with that, but Apple’s new strategy of releasing two new iPhone devices means a lot more people will be trying to make up their minds between them. Hopefully the considerations above help that decision

Totally Digitized! - By the Reliance Digital Experience!

As the name suggests, I am all about technology and Autos. Technology, it not only my interest, its my passion, a driving force and a motivation in my life. I cannot imagine a day in my life without having a dose of my "technological feed".

It is practically impossible to quantify what technology has given us.

Today, at a touch of a button (rather touch of a screen :-P) we transfer money from one end of the world to another, make phone calls, pay bills, book movie tickets, pay tax, read e-books and the list goes on. It is a well accepted fact that our lives before a rough 10 years weren't as simple and aided with technology as it is today.

We have reached times when the capabilities of a handheld device like a mobile phone or a tablet/ipad are brushing shoulders with high end laptops and personal computers. Multi-core processing chips, Retina/Super AMOLED Displays, 3G, LTE were all a dream years back.

On this note, lets celebrate technology and thank inventors, developers and marketers to bring all this in the hands of the consumer.

Reliance has given us one more reason to celebrate technology...Reliance Digital - Happiness in store.

What better place than this to talk about a "Digital Store".

Lets get started.

Saturday evening I visited a Reliance Digital store at Times Square, Andheri Kurla Road, Andheri (E) with a friend. as we entered the store, I felt something different. It was not the usual get-in-get-out feeling. As we entered the store, we felt a warm welcoming gesture from the from the personnel and (as metaphoric as it may sound) from the store by itself.

I met the manager of the store, who in spite in his busy hour, greeted us and asked us to spend as much time as we needed in the store. The executives were helpful too.

For me, entering an appliance retail store is like a kid entering a toy store. I can never get enough of it. I wanted to scan through each and every department and every appliance displayed in the store. Surprisingly, my friend (who is not so much of a technology person) also seemed quite interested in the gadgets I was showing her. That's when I realized how important hospitality and planning actually is. It actually makes a total "technology virgin" (pardon me those who are) interested in it. The Store's ambience and aura attracted not only my friend but many others.

Speaking of  the Hospitality, The executives and sales persons were courteous and gentle in their approach. They were good with their words and did put forth their helping hand when the customer seems to be in a dilemma. Every person in the store was aware of all information about the department they were handling. I can say this since I have a bad habit of testing people's knowledge about technology, specially of the people closely associated with it. Not only did they help, but they made suggestions about a better product based on your needs. This depicts that the personnel working there is well trained.

The Store has a good collection of appliances viz. Mobile Phones, Computers, Televisions and Audio, Cameras, Home Appliances, Kitchen Appliances, Gaming Devices and Accessories like pen drives, headsets, chargers, batteries etc. You name it, they have it.

Also to mention that all the devices, gadgets, appliances are very competitively priced. It has different sections for different categories of appliances. With more than 14 stores spread out in Mumbai itself, it is accessible to almost every class of consumer and is definitely a better alternative than other stores.

Not only is this an appliance store, it is a one stop solution to all your home and office needs. With that note, it is apt to say that the overall experience of the store has been extraordinary. I was more than satisfied with the service provided at the store and would surely recommend it to others.

Way to Go "Reliance Digital Store". I did find "Happiness in Store"!
